About the opportunity:

Based at our Head Office, Pedders is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to take a leadership role within our Engineering team.

 

A central focus of this role is the evaluation, integration, and performance measurement of new and existing products, with particular emphasis on dynamic ride and handling. You’ll drive innovation and embed a culture of risk mitigation within product system development, while ensuring compliance with domestic and international regulatory requirements (e.g., GVM, TÜV, VCA, ECE).

 

You’ll lead the direction of system development, testing, and compliance, while mentoring a high-performing technical team and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability. A key requirement of the role will be delivering and maintaining industry-standard FEA and simulation capability to support product and system development and speed to market.

 

This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring excellence in system performance and international compliance, while championing the success of Pedders’ GVM program and other exclusive programs, including LoadRyder, Tow & Load, and Weight Matrix.


What are some of the responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead and develop the Systems Engineering team, enhancing performance, engagement, and technical capability.
  • Direct product system development, validation, national and international compliance activities for suspension and brake systems.
  • Deliver and maintain FEA and simulation capability to accelerate product development and system validation.
  • Oversee product system testing and validation (D/PVP&R, FEA/CAE) to exceed compliance requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and innovation in system performance, dynamic ride and handling, and compliance outcomes.
  • Champion key programs including GVM, LoadRyder, Tow & Load, and Weight Matrix.

What we’re seeking from you:

  • Degree qualified in Engineering (Automotive, Mechanical, Aero, Mechatronics, or related).
  • NERs / RPEng accreditation (required).
  • Experience in suspension systems and vehicle dynamics (highly desirable).
  • Strong capability with FEA, simulation tools, and engineering testing equipment.
  • Knowledge of GVM-related regulations, standards, and certification processes.
  • Experience with DFMEAs, technical drawings (3D Solidworks and 2D AutoCAD).
  • Strong attention to detail and documentation to support compliance with ADR/VSB/TÜV/VCA/ECE requirements.
  • Familiarity with ISO 9001 (or higher, e.g., IATF 16949), ISO 14001, and ISO 45001.
