About the opportunity:

 

Based at our head office, Pedders is seeking a Lead Systems Engineer to take a leadership role within our Engineering team.

 

You’ll lead the direction of system development, testing, and compliance, while mentoring a high-performing technical team and fostering a culture of innovation and accountability.

 

This is a pivotal role responsible for ensuring excellence in dynamic ride and handling, system performance, and compliance to meet internal and customer requirements (TUV, VCA, FMVSS, ECE). You will also champion the success of Pedders' the GVM program and other exclusive programs, including LoadRyder, Tow & Load, and Weight Matrix.

 


What are some of the responsibilities of the role:

  • Lead and enhance the performance, engagement, and technical growth of the System Engineering team
  • Identify and measure against Key Performance Indicators (KPI) for system performance
  • Develop Pedders ability to achieve international vehicle compliance requirements (TUV, VCA, ECE, etc) for our suspension and brakes systems
  • Manage and be accountable for all product system testing and validation, including D/PVP&R & FEA, ensuring that internal & legislatively requirements for GVM systems are exceeded.
  • Manage the day-to-day work on current/future system development, validation and release activities for suspension and brakes.
  • Manage the integrity of various engineering databases, for example, GVM Program, ADR requirements and testing to support data driven decisions, Design/Production Validation Plan and Reports, Technical Reports / Publications database.
  • Support technical development for Product Engineering, APQP - understanding the requirements, conceptualising, detail design, validation and productionising of Pedders components and systems. 
  • Contribute to the Pedders Quality Management System (QMS) framework (including ISO 9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Conduct and report on root cause analysis for product field issues.

What we’re seeking from you:

  •  
  • Degree Qualified – Engineering (NERs – IEAUST equiv).
  • Experience in suspension systems and vehicle dynamics is highly desirable.
  • Experience with specific automotive sectors (e.g., passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, electric vehicles) and their unique GVM compliance requirements.
  • Experience with GVM-related regulations and standards, including testing procedures and certification processes.
  • Attention to detail and precise documentation to support compliance for Pedders’ GVM programs with ADR/VSB/TUV/VCA/ECE/FMVSS regulations and system validation requirements.
  • Capability to develop / operate Engineering testing equipment.
  • Excellent computer literacy and mechanical aptitude.
  • Capability with DFMEAs, technical drawings (3D Solidworks and 2D AutoCAD).
  • Experience with ISO9001 (or higher e.g. IATF16949) ISO14001 and ISO45001 requirements.
