The Opportunity
We currently have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Controller to join our Support Office team.
Reporting to the Chief Finance Officer, this newly created role leads the day-to-day accounting and financial control activities of Pedders Suspension and Brakes. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of the general ledger, accurate and timely financial reporting, effective internal controls, regulatory compliance and audit readiness.
This is a key finance leadership role that will partner closely with the CFO, business leaders and operational teams to provide reliable financial information, disciplined cash and balance sheet management and practical commercial insight. You will also lead and develop members of the finance team, strengthen processes and support continuous improvement across the finance function.

Key Responsibilities
In this role, you will:
- Lead monthly, quarterly and annual financial close processes, ensuring accounts are complete, accurate and delivered to agreed timelines.
- Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, chart of accounts, journals, accruals, provisions and intercompany transactions.
- Prepare and review statutory and management financial statements, including profit and loss, balance sheet and cash flow reporting.
- Ensure balance sheet accounts are supported by timely, complete and independently reviewed reconciliations.
- Maintain accounting policies and support consistent application across Pedders entities.
- Design, document and monitor effective internal controls, including delegations, approvals and segregation of duties.
- Ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards, taxation obligations, organisational policies and relevant legislation.
- Coordinate the preparation and lodgement of GST, FBT, income tax and other statutory reporting with external advisers where required.
- Lead the annual external audit and any internal audit activities, including planning, schedules, evidence and management responses.
- Prepare accurate monthly management reporting with clear variance analysis and commentary.
- Analyse revenue, gross margin, operating costs, working capital and cash performance to identify risks and opportunities.
- Partner with operational leaders to improve financial understanding, accountability and decision quality.
- Monitor liquidity, cash flow and funding requirements, escalating emerging risks promptly.
- Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, banking, credit control and payment processes to support strong working capital outcomes.
- Act as finance process owner for the ERP and connected finance systems, ensuring strong controls, reliable data and effective use.
- Drive standardisation, automation and continuous improvement across accounting and reporting processes.

What You Bring To The Team
To be successful in this role, you will bring:
- A tertiary qualification in accounting, finance, commerce or a related discipline.
- CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants qualification.
- Valid right to work in Australia.
- Substantial experience across financial accounting, management reporting, statutory compliance and audit.
- Demonstrated experience leading a financial close and maintaining strong balance sheet governance.
- Experience managing and developing a finance team in a multi-site, product, retail, distribution or similarly complex environment.
- Strong technical accounting knowledge and practical understanding of compliance obligations.
- Experience with ERP systems and finance process improvement; Pronto experience is desirable.
- Advanced Excel capability and confidence working with financial data, reporting and business intelligence tools.
- Clear communication, stakeholder management and practical problem-solving skills.
